At the end of September the Clippers sit with a 4-3-0-1 record and in third place in the Island Division.

Nanaimo had a pair of one goal setbacks to the Bulldogs and Vipers last week losing 5-4 to Alberni Valley and 4-3 to Vernon.

Special teams were the major factor with six power play goals given up in 16 times shorthanded.

Meanwhile the Clippers were two for 11 on their own chances.

The positive is that Nanaimo’s five on five play was very strong and that’s a solid foundation for the team to build on as they prepare to host Alberni Valley and Victoria this weekend.

Friday will be the third meeting of the young season against the Bulldogs with both teams holding a home ice win so far.

The Clippers will be looking for a much different style of game than the one they played last Friday night when the teams combined for 96 shots on net.

When the Victoria Grizzlies visit on Saturday Nanaimo will be looking for a repeat performance of their first head to head matchup.

The Clippers won 5-2 and played probably the most complete game of their entire season.

The Grizzlies have moved ahead of Nanaimo in the Island Division standings so Saturday’s game will be crucial as the teams jockey for position in the early season.

At Frank Crane Arena on Friday the game night sponsor is the Nanaimo News Bulletin as they say thank you to their carriers.

Saturday’s game sponsor is the Parksville Boathouse, in fact they’ll be doing a boat show on both nights.

The popular ‘Zorb’ race will also be returning for the Grizzlies game,

Medical professionals and other workers in the field of health care can get a free ticket to the October 7 game against Victoria.
