CLIPPERS ON SHORT END OF 5-3 SCORE VERSUS KINGS

The Clippers have dropped three games in a row after a 5-3 setback against the Powell River Kings on Saturday.

Nanaimo got off to a quick start with Tristan Crozier stealing the puck and beating Mitch Adamyk shorthanded.

But the Kings had two straight goals to take a 2-1 lead to the intermission break.

Jonny Evans scored in tight on Taz Burman and then Mitch Williams cashed in with under a minute to play.

Cal Babych tipped home a power play marker to even the score in the second but Kevin Obssuth pulled Powell River head again.

Burman made several great saves in the second period to keep the Clippers close and then in the late going Cal Babych fed Parker Colley who roofed the 3-3 goal.

Neal Samanski batted the puck behind Burman on a third period man advantage for the game’s winning goal while Nanaimo native Carter Turnbull capped off the night with an empty netter.

The Kings outshot the Clippers 35-24 with Powell River going 1/6 on the power play and Nanaimo finishing 1/3.

There’s one game left in the season series and the Kings have a 4-3 lead after Saturday’s victory.
