CLIPPERS LOSE TIGHT BATTLE WITH KINGS 3-2 IN OT

The Clippers and Kings battles for 70 minutes in Game 3 of their best of seven playoffs series but Powell River got the OT winner to take a 2-1 lead.

Monday’s game ended 3-2 for Kings with Ben Berard netting the winner.

Nanaimo got off to a good start with Cal Babych stealing the puck from Kings goalie Matteo Paler-Chow in the first period to give the Clippers a 1-0 lead.

Berard tied it up early in the second with a power play marker.

The Clippers got the lead back early in the third period with David Silye’s second goal of the series, but Josh Coblenz tied the game when he beat Taz Burman just a few minutes later.

Both teams had chances in overtime until Berard’s eventual game winner at 9:15 of the extra session.

The shots on goal finished 32-30 for Powell River and power plays were at a premium in Game 3.

The Kings were 1/2 on the man advantage and the Clippers only had one power play chance but failed to score.

Game 4 goes Tuesday night at the Hap Parker Arena at 7pm.  The Clippers have won three of the five games in Powell River through the regular season and playoffs.
