CLIPPERS LOSE ROAD TRIP OPENER 4-1 IN VERNON

VERNON – It was a Friday the 13th to forget for the Nanaimo Clippers.

They lost 4-1 to the Vernon Vipers at Kal Tire Place.

The Vipers had the only goals of the first period on a deflection by Connor Marritt and a screened shot power play goal by Chris Jandric.

Vincent Millette picked up his fourth of the season to get the Clippers on the board in the second period, but despite some good chances in the middle frame Nanaimo entered the third period down 2-1.

Shane Kelly lobbed a seeing-eye shot from the boards to give the Vipers a two goal advantage, and Jordan Sandhu capped off the scoring with sneaky shot from the left side.

Austin Roden made 23 stops for the Clippers while his counterpart Ty Taylor made 27 saves for Vernon.

Both teams earned six power plays but Vernon had the only goal on the man advantage.

Next up the Clippers visit the Salmon Arm Silverbacks Saturday at 7pm.
