CLIPPERS LOSE IN VICTORIA 9-4

The Clippers have dropped two games in a row after a forgettable 9-4 loss to the Grizzlies at the Q Centre on Saturday.

There was foreshadowing on the first shift of the game when Shawn O’Malley scored to put Victoria in front.

Cal Babych tied it for Nanaimo, but then Justin Michaelian gave the Grizzlies the lead back.

Brady Lynn evened the score again but Carter Berger on the power play put Victoria back in front 3-2 before the end of the first period.

From then on it was all Victoria.

The Grizzlies had goals from Dayne Finnson, Michaelian with his second of the game, Matt Doran on the power play, and Ethan Nother to take a 7-2 stranglehold after 40 minutes.

The teams traded goals in the third period as well with Doran getting his second of the night, Hunor Torzsok scoring his first BCHL goal, Nother grabbing his second of the game on a man advantage, and Vincent Millette scoring in the final minute.

Torzsok’s power play goal was a highlight for the Clippers, but one of the few in the game.

Both Taz Burman and Noah Featherstonhaugh Gowe played in net with Burman giving five and Featherstonhaugh Gowe allowing four.

The shots were 44-32 for the Grizzlies and new goalie Kurtis Chapman recorded the win.

It was a lopsided day on special teams as Victoria went 4/11 on the power play and the Clippers were 1/4.
