CLIPPERS LOSE GAME 1 TO GRIZZLIES 1-0

COLWOOD – The BCHL playoffs opened with a 1-0 loss for the Clippers.

The Victoria Grizzlies scored the only goal early in the second period off the stick of Shawn O’Malley.

Strong goaltending was a major factor with Matthew Galajda making 24 saves and Nanaimo’s Evan DeBrouwer stopping 27 shots.

There was also a large disparity in power plays with the Grizzlies going to the man advantage six times and the Clippers getting just over a minute of power play time in the game.

Overall it was a hard working game with Nanaimo matching up very well with the first place Grizzlies.

With the two clubs now having played three straight times you can see the intensity of the rivalry has gone up considerably.

That should make for a very entertaining Game 2 on Saturday night.
