CLIPPERS SHUTOUT THE BULLDOGS

Austin Roden just keeps on winning.  As an AP goalie a year ago he won his only Clipper start, and this season he’s 2-0.  On Friday he made 25 stops to lead Nanaimo to a 3-0 win over Alberni Valley.  At the other end of the ice Nanaimo got a goal from Vincent Millette in the second period and then a shorthanded effort by Tristan Crozier in the third.

Ben Solin’s empty netter clinched the game in the last minute, when the Bulldogs pulled Brody Claeys for the extra attacker.

The final shots were 34-25 for the Clippers with Nanaimo and Alberni both 0/6 on the man advantage.

Friday’s Three Stars were 1) Austin Roden 2) Brody Claeys 3) Vincent Millette

Nanaimo Captain Spencer Hewson made his season debut in the game and new defenseman Ian Beck played his first game with club.  Both players showed well in what was an excellent team effort.

The Clippers will host the now host the Surrey Eagles Saturday at 6 pm.
